Short Description: The Production Planning Intern is responsible for supporting the Heavy Maintenance Production Control Department with aircraft scheduling analysis, process optimization and project implementation with Allegiant’s Data System.  Summary: The Production Control Intern will work with the Manager of Production Control to improve and implement analytical models and database management used for maintenance forecasting, parts planning, and tool planning for aircraft maintenance. This position requires knowledge of aircraft maintenance and aircraft parts. This position will assess planning systems to determine future scheduling of maintenance, engineering modifications and airworthiness directives. This position works with several departments including Maintenance Planning departments, Component Repairs, Purchasing, Tools, Engineering, Reliability and should understand the maintenance forecasting and execution process, to assess potential risks to the operation, implement audit programs for aircraft maintenance. Creativity and mathematical aptitude are preferred. Visa Sponsorship Available: No Minimum Requirements: Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check. Education:  High School Diploma/GED Education Details:   High School Diploma/GED, Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree. Must be enrolled in an accredited university with preference given to candidates that will have completed at least two (2) years university level coursework or to be a recent graduate within the past six months with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Relevant coursework includes Operations Research, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Statistical Analysis or other related field. •Possess effective communication skills. •Ability to prioritize and problem solve with critical thinking. •Ability to manage multiple and varied activities. •The ability to read, write, and speak English in order to receive and understand instructions, directives, and ensure safety, as well as the ability to interact with customers, is a requirement of the job. Preferred Requirements: •Creativity and mathematical aptitude is preferred. •Proficiency using Excel or programming language.  •Experience and/or certifications in the following are desirable: Process optimization, Programming or database management, Business or Supply Chain Management, Six-Sigma Lean, and Project Management. •Strong intellect and aptitude desired. •Knowledge of Aircraft Parts and Systems and Aircraft Maintenance Planning. •Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance. •Ability to locate, understand and extract pertinent information from AIS for data collection and reporting. Job Duties: •Research and support short and long-term maintenance plans using analytical models with Allegiant’s Data System. •Work with the Production Control Manager to monitor and track the maintenance plan, identify problem areas and initiate recommendations for corrective actions.  •Assist with developing new models by performing case studies and audits to enhance visibility of current and future maintenance needs and scheduling as required. These models could range from forecasting optimization, logistics, aircraft movement patterns, or MRO performance expectations compared to planned schedules.  •Monitor and track maintenance activities including but not limited to schedule changes, work order changes, cancelled or added items, and best scheduling opportunities using database management.  •Ensure parts and materials are available for upcoming maintenance work as planned.  •Other duties, as assigned. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
